Supercell had been using a condensed version of my Comicraft font You Blockhead in the logo and game graphics of Clash of Clans since its launch in 2012.

In 2016, they commissioned me to design a custom version for their new game Clash Royale.

I started by printing out the You Blockhead alphabet, then pencil sketching more angular Uncial (mideval-stye lowercase) letter shapes over the top.

After tracing in Illustrator, the shapes were further refined to create a version that was slightly more compact and had a unique old world flair.
