When the first Angry Birds movie went into production in 2015, Rovio commissioned a new family of fonts for their brand that were “cleaner… with feathers”.
The first text they needed were the words “Summer 2016 Flockbuster” for the movie trailer. So I sketched and vectorized those letters, which ultimately became the “Poster” weight.
I then designed two additional families: a bolder “Headline” and lighter “Text”.
The fonts were used for The Angry Birds Movie posters, titles & credits, games, and of course lots and lots of merchandise.
And to my delight, they were used again in the Angry Birds 2 sequel in 2019.
